Augustin Castro Lopez was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1958. From a very young age, he was brought up around art and artist studios, particularly that of his father. As an amateur, he persued an interest in landscape art and began studying art under Alvaro Canales Pineda, a Hinduran muralist painter. He also spent three years studying the art of sculpture and later studied at the National School of Painting in Mexico. He has ben honored by the FONCA and has obtained numerous honorable mentions and awards on a national level.

For Augustin, his primary inspiration to create art has always been nature. Castro believes all artist's derive their inspiration for creation from thier immediate environment and surroundings. His still life's represent his love of nature combined with the textures and shapes of the objects which surround him every day. He interprets traditional images and symbols with a contemporary context creating a free portrayal of nature and it's beauty. Each painting is filled with light and shadows, both real and virtual, offering a unique sensation of comfort and peace.
