The inspiration for his artwork comes from the meeting of two very different influences in his life. Frank was involved with creating art from a very early age, but he found he was drawn to a more technical expression, so he studied and pursued a career of graphic design. He is currently a literary Art Director, whose designs have won him numerous awards, and he also teaches graphic design at CSU, Northridge. His recent artwork, however, was inspired by the relationship with his father. Frank's father, Francisco, was an engineer who created artwork with pastels in his spare time. He was the one who originally drew Frank to art. Because of the close bond between them, upon the death of his father in 1999 after a troubling illness, Frank was inspired to create images that showed the triumph of the human soul over tragedy and sorrow. Laden with muted primary colors mixed with earthen tones, his pieces are expressive and soothing, yet highly symbolic. The roses and musical instruments are symbols of hope and emotional self-expression, while the colors and composition radiate energy and a structured foundation. Through the use of bold lines, curves and texture mixed with a brilliant bouquet of color, Frank conveys the affirmation of sadness and loss turning to hope and healing. ARTIST
